Cancer has always sucked! It continues to suck! It will likely suck in the future, but we can make improvements in the lives of all people impacted by his disease. This year I dedicate my ride to YOU and all people impacted by cancer in any way. I draw strength from people who have faced this disease with such courage and grace.

My Story

This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! This will be my eighth consecutive year participating in this challenge.

Although this ride is specifically for Kid’s cancers, I’m riding for everyone who ever fought or was impacted by cancer in any way.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Mileage updat

As you may have seen I’ve been doing some indoor rides. I go back to the surgeon on Thursday and hopefully will be cleared to ride outside.

The problem is that the site may be closed to adding new mileage by then. My intention is to record my mileage until I’ve reached my goal and ‘attempt’ to put them on here. Failing that, I’ll be posting the dates and mileage by some other means.

Thank you for your support and understanding. I WILL get this mileage done one way or another once I’m medically cleared to do so.

Indoor Only

I went to see the Surgeon this week. Everything seems to be healing well, but I’m still restricted from riding outside. It has more to do with heart rate and potential for hemorrhage right now than the riding. This direction extends for another month.

Just like the kids I’m riding for, we don’t always get the news that we want. Also just like those kids, I’ll take what comes my way and keep moving forward (or stationary in the case of my trainer, lol).

I’m hopped onto my indoor bike and will continue to do so. I can control my heart rate better on the trainer, but I’m not getting anywhere near the mileage that riding outdoors would garner.

I’ll keep at it and will accomplish my pledged goal, but I will need longer to do so.
