I'm Riding For

Erika

Erika is my 23 year old daughter who was diagnosed with cancer in November 2015. We're celebrating that she's been "off treatment" since November 2016. This is my 10th year riding in this challenge and I'm proud to have raided a life time total of $10,000. She is an amazing, strong young lady who never lost the beautiful smile on her face throughout all her treatments. She went through 10 rounds of chemo, two stem cell transplants, two major surgeries and a few smaller ones. After all the tough times and health challenges, she has now completed her studies at Trinity Western University and graduated with her Bachelor of Science, RN. All her experiences as a teen had much to contribute to her decision to enter nursing school. She is doing well and just recently made the decision to move out on her own. She's been working at Surrey Memorial in pediatrics for over a year now and I'm proud to see her live her life!! Seeing her thrive and living life as she should makes me feel like the luckiest Mom alive. I will be riding for her and all the other kids affected by cancer because we speak from experience - it is not something any child or teen should have to deal with.

My Story

This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, over 1,700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
