WOW it's August 11th already. I have done 140 km. Panic is starting to take control since I really should be closer to 200. It is just so hot 🔥🥵 but really what do I have to complain about? The other day I decided to take the long, long way home from work. Managed to hit 5 trails and all was good until I got to the last bridge and then a wee wait. Actually all these years, I have never been struck waiting for the blue bridge. Picture is me with the bridge up in the background. Will be taking that route again soon. So much 😊
Friday is coming up fast! Can't believe it is almost August. 400 km. Just thinking about it makes me wonder why I put so much on myself! Oh well. Need to remind myself that it is for the kids. Anyway I am gearing up. Firefly is squeaky clean. Cycling kit all put together for the long weekend. Strava updated to record rides so you follow me. All that is left is the riding! And of course posting blogs. Stay tuned for the excitement of August.
This weekend, I didn't have a lot going on so why not go for a 56 km bike ride. Decided to go on the goose trail. Three blocks on road, then trail the rest of the way! Nice to be off the roads. But half the ride is on gravel. Why is this important to point out? Well since my broken leg over a year ago, I am extremely uncomfortable clipping my feet into a bike that slips on gravel. But I have to face my fear! So I put my big girl pants on and set out on the Goose. Tense times on the loose gravel but all in all it was a win! Happy day!
Have you ever had a song stuck in your head? How about that one motivational song that gets you moving? Well for me it is the Muppets "Movin' Right Along". Warning, once you hear it, it is hard to get out of your head! Love the lyrics " Footloose and fancy free, getting there is half the fun, come share it with me... So of course I put that on my new Jersey. Life's too short to not have a little song!
This year, my husband built me an amazing bike! This bike is so special since she incorporates all the weird quirks that I have when riding. I need a small frame since I am vertically challenged. But then I still need 2 water bottle cages! Tight normally! Then I have pannier racks on both front and back. Handlebar bag and don't forget the fenders! But my biggest quirk is that I rarely use the front gear ring so got rid of that. Then I needed a wider handle bar as well as shocks on it. But my husband was great at making it all work. So now I have a new bike and her name is Firefly!
Hello my cycling friends. Again I have signed up for this great cause. My heart breaks every time I read about one of the brave kids fighting this horrible disease. I am so lucky. Lucky to have the health for the ride, and of course a great community of friends to motivate me. Thanks to you all. Let's make this year a great one!
